FEATURED CASES
Depression Drug Serzone Can Damage Liver
The Dugan Law Firm is investigating possible legal actions against Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, the maker of the prescription antidepressant Serzone (nefazodone hydrochloride), to recover for liver damage and other injuries suffered by patients taking this drug.

According to the Los Angeles Times, eighteen cases of liver failure involving Serzone patients were reported to the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 1996 to June 2000. Several cases have been described in the medical literature. The FDA approved Serzone in December, 1994. Finally, on January 9, 2002, the FDA ordered a "Black Box" warning to be placed on Serzone packaging due to the liver injuries that have been reported.

Harm Caused by Welding Fumes Is Receiving Greater Recognition
Inhalation of metal fumes may produce four types of lung disease: chemical pneumonitis, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, occupational asthma, and metal fume fever. Exposure to welding fumes has also been linked to various forms of cancer and the early onset of Parkinson's disease.

There are various kinds of pollutants generated by welding processes. The toxins produced depend on several factors, such as the welding technique, coatings on the electrodes, and the composition of the material to be welded. Certain welding fumes contain significant amounts of chromium, manganese, and nickel, and traces of other metals. Beryllium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, and zinc are specifically listed as potential toxins by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
